Mural of Bologna, Italy
where the Kappa Sigma Fraternity was founded way back in 1494??

by

Jeff Sale and Steve Oberlin

I collaborated on this mural with Steve Oberlin*. We did this way back in the summer of 1976 on the dining room wall of the Beta Mu chapter of Kappa Sigma at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis (1125 5th St. SE, if you want to see if it's still there). Steve did the buildings and people, and I did the landscape, sky, and trim. Somewhere in there is hidden the greek symbols Kappa and Sigma. If the mural is still there, perhaps they still require the pledges to find it during Hell Week. Sorry, no hints, brothers. Thanks to Rosemary (Rosie) Janushka for taking the picture and sending it to me.

*I believe Steve Oberlin went on to design the T3D and the T3E supercomputers, the first with 3D torus interconnect, as a senior scientist with Cray. For a while he was CEO of Unlimited Scale, Inc. (http://www.unlimitedscale.com/). Good job, Steve! He was briefly with Cassatt Corp. then with CA Technologies and now he's running NVidia's Tesla program.
